Dr. Colm Smith is the co-founder and principal of Colm Smith Dental & Specialist Centre. Colm graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1985 and gained post-graduate training in Bristol University in Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and tooth wear. Over the last 30 years, Colm has received continuous orthodontic training from Mr. Keith Isaacson, Consultant Orthodontist.
Colm has a wealth of experience in dentistry and works closely with his dental team in diagnosing and treatment planning. He now leads a team of over 10 dentists in a consultancy capacity and strives to impart his knowledge and expertise.
Colm has worked as a part-time clinical tutor in Queens University for five years and was an associate editor of the ‘Irish Dentist’ magazine for two years. He is also a member of the teaching council of Ireland.
In 2000 he was appointed by the Post Graduate Medical & Dental Board as a trainer in Vocational Training for dentists. He has been involved in dental research in Queen’s University Belfast and was a member of the International Association for Dental Research.
Colm keeps current with all the latest techniques in dentistry and has a particular interest in aesthetic and prosthetic dentistry, having been among the first dentists to place Veneers and Maryland bridges in Ireland over 30 years ago. Since 2004, he has regularly travelled to the United States to keep up to date on the various implant systems.
Colm is a registered member of the General Dental Council and the Irish Dental Council and keeps up to date with the general dental council obligatory CPD requirements.
